ABOUT US

Canada Bay Zero Carbon Community (CBZCC) started in late 2021.

Our mission is to work with our local council to reduce our community emissions in the most effective ways possible. 42% of our emissions, local and global, are from homes and businesses.

We started with Go Solar in Canada Bay. Now we are adding Electrify Everything in Canada Bay.

Meetings are held every second Monday 6-7pm on Zoom.

"We acknowledge the Wangal people of the Eroa Nation who first lived on the land where we meet. We pay or respects to elders past, present and emerging."

The pathway to

ZEROCARBON

by 2030.

Starts with PARTNERSHIPS

SOLAR
FREE INFO NIGHT:

IWCE offers free information sessions and advice to help households install and businesses who want to go solar but don't know where to go or who to trust.

ELECTRIFY
EVERYTHING FREE WORKSHOP:

Electrify Everything in your home or business firstly means planning for the order in which you can make these changes: Installing solar, and battery, switching to energy efficient appliances as they need replacing, and buying an electric vehicle when possible.

Once this is done, energy costs for households and businesses will drop $3,000 to $5,000 per year forever.

Federal Rebates

FIND OUT MORE AT OUR INFO NIGHTS:

There are already Federal and State financial incentives and rebates. We can expect more. The best rebates on offer are for the most efficient: solar and heat pump hot water.

Our first Information Night is on 5th March 2024 at Canadian Exiles Room at Concord Oval from 6.30- 8.00. Refreshments are provided. There will be experts to inform you and direct you to trusted assistance.

Our Inspiration

WHO IS SAUL GRIFFITHS?

Our inspiration comes from Saul Griffiths, the engineer/scientist whose vision convinced both the Biden and Albanese governments to legislate Rewiring America and Rewiring Australia policies.

He articulates this in his book, The Big Switch, the Quarterly Essay and in many videos and TED talks.

His own community in the North Wollongong suburb of Austinmer is leading the way with their Electrify 2515 project

Local councils

GET ON BOARD AUSTRALIA WIDE:

Zero Carbon Merri-bek have led the way in Victoria and councils Australia wide are following as they realise what can be achieved by bringing communities along.

We are fortunate that Canada Bay Council is one of them and you can get detailed information about the initiatives, policies and strategies on their website.

The best results come when councils and communities work in partnership CBZCC would welcome new active members.
